Chi and Prana – What is it?

Chi

English is a great language for many things but English is also a major obstacle for us on the path due to its major lack of words to describe subtle things.

While there are over 50 words around the world’s languages that mean Chi, none of those words is in English! There are over 50 cultures around the world that have a word in their language for what is called Chi in the Far East. However of the 50 Cultures that have a word for Chi, English speaking western culture is not one of them! This means that in English we lack the word to describe this force called Chi.

But since the English language actually lacks the tools to accurately describe this force we English speaking natives must be able to move beyond the confines of our language and instead adopt the words without translation. What is very important here is that there are many words around the world including the Sanskrit word Prana to describe the same invisible power-current which controls our wellbeing depending on its proper circulation.

Chi or Prana or any of the 50 or so other words found in world’s languages is a force within us that moves through a meridian system in a way not dissimilar to electricity. Chi is a force that is mysterious in nature but that we can control and channel with our mind through visualization and movement practices. Where the mind goes…the Chi flows!
